I knew I wanted to use my old canning jars to create something really spectacular for my family this weekend so I started researching baking in jars. I saw so many ideas and found out it was actually possible so I thought about a summer combo that would work in this heat. I knew I had to include chocolate and I wanted it to be easy since my day was already packed so I made a graham cracker-ice cream and brownie treat to share with you!
1 package (from box) crushed graham crackers
1 batch of Anne's double chocolate brownie
buy Ghirardelli's Double Chocolate Brownie Mix
(or other brownie substitute)
carton vanilla ice cream
4 TBSP butter
Makes 6 jars
First spray or oil and flour the sides of your baking jars. Then melt your butter and mix it with the crushed graham crackers. Pack this mix down into the bottom of your jar. Make your brownie mix and spoon only 1/4 of the jars size into each one. Clean the sides and edges of your jars well before baking with a damp cloth.
Place jars on a cookie sheet and bake for 30 minutes. The brownies will seem gooey if you stick them but as they sit out they will become more solid. If you really feel they need to bake longer make sure to pay attention to the graham cracker on the bottom so it does not blacken.
Let cool completely before serving with a scoop of ice cream each and enjoy!
